Cimex lectularius
The most common type of Bed Bug which is typically found in households is Cimex lectularius. These kinds of Bed Bugs
live across the world and can be in variable tempatures. They live very fruitful in the households of human beings. The critters are
small, quick, and have parasites of the family Cimicidae. What many don't know is that they survive by feeding on the blood of warm blooded animals and humans.
This is the key to their survival and they don't feed on food left on the floor like other bugs. They have been called bed bugs for this reason
as they make the human's home their home and find a place to live in Beds and under Mattresses and come to feed at night more often. However,
Bedbugs are not just nocturnal. They feed mostly at night as their meal is most likely to not put up a fight at that time.
Cimex hemipterus
The Cimex hemipterus bed bug is found in the tropics. This type of Bed Bug will typically be found on Bats and some refer to them as Bat Bugs. But don't get this bed bug wrong, it will also bite a Human. Therefore, you can still find these kinds of
Bed Bugs you will find in tropical places at homes, hotels, or inns. Even though you are on vacation in a tropical place, you will still need to check for these bugs in the mattress.
Leptocimex boueti
The Leptocimex boueti bed bug is found in the West Side of Africa and also has been seen in South America. While these bugs are not as common as their cousin Cimex Lectularius, they also known to be found
on bats and in some cases on humans.
Cimex pilosellus & Cimex pipistrella
These types of Bed Bugs are not as much of a concern as they primarly bite and eat on Bats. They are in the same family as the Cimicidae and thus are closely related to bed bugs. If found in America,
these bugs will be found on or around Bats and places that Bats live. Even though these bugs can also bite humans, it is more rare and they won't carry any disease that could of transmitted from the Bat. In order to
exterminate these bed bugs, you must first go to the source and remove the Bats.
Haematosiphon inodora
The Haematosiphon inodora bed bug is found mostly on meat or poultry. These bugs are primarly located in the US and can rarely be found on human beings, but more likely to find a Haematosiphon inodora on a pig.
